She wore a pony tail and always dressed in pink
She was so unlike any girl at the age of six you can think!
Never was she keen about going to her kindergarten class
'coz rhymes and tales never fascinated her as much as the Hourglass!

This thing of beauty was treasured, being a gift ancestreal
The slipping white sand shimmered in the glass like a crystal!
As she looked at it spell bound with her eyes turquoise blue
She let her thoughts go wild and her fancies too flew!

Thanks to the mischievious gleam in her eye
They feared and kept it on a shelf way too high!
How she longed to grow up some day
And find her hand reach this marvel kept at bay!

Then whenever she pleased she would turn it upside-down
Go back in time and undo all those frowns!
She would even loop in time all happy moments
Especially the ones when they got her great presents!

Time kept slipping away and she became old enough to realise
That what she awed at as a kid wasn't any magical device!
She blushed at her innocence and with sarcasm she said,
"If only I would have tilted the hourglass to this time instead!"
