It would come soon, it had promised
And I had plans that I had made
So I waited with eager eyes
Through the day
And under the midnight skies
The wind would carry it to me
I thought,
So when the stars arrived,
I knew
It was just around the corner
Waiting to greet me


I tucked the list of things to do
Under my silken pillow
Closed my dreamy eyes
And counted the sheep
Hopping over the meadow


It was no surprise
That it came, when my eyes opened wide
But it seemed to rush past me
Like a violent tide
It escaped the grasp of my hand
Like did the sand on the beach
It looked like a rainbow, Beautiful
but beyond reach
It whispered false promises
Like a lover long ago
And then it promised to come again
Yet again,
This Tomorrow
